Living ALONE IS MORE ENJOYABLE THEN Living with someone else
First of all, I would like to say that living alone is more enjoyable, besides sharing it to someone else who we don’t know yet, or even a close friend however close we are to each other, they are still a stranger, in other words, I can not live with other people except my close family.
In the first place, living alone gives me a lot of privacy, for instance when I am listening to rock music, there will be no one who gets disturbed because of the high volume. In other words I am not disturbing someone and neither are they. Another advantage is that I don not have to share a bedroom, or even the bathroom with them.
On the other hand, I have to be able to do the house work by myself, nevertheless I have someone to share stories or even the house tasks with.
In conclusion, I love being alone in my own place, even so I still need room mate to share and to do the house work. This in to say that Living alone is much freer and more comfortable.

QuestionYou have received the following letter from your English penfriend.

I'm really pleased you're planning to come to England to study. Let me know what type of course you're interested in and I'll ring some colleges for details. The more information you can give me the better!
Write your letter of reply to your penfriend (around 120-180 words).
Dear Angela,
Hi! Thanks for you letter and I’m sorry for the late reply. I just have finished my exam this week. Well, as I have told you, I have interest in english literature and food technology. I heard that England is a good place to study both literature and food technology.
I would like to have a basic class in literature, because english literature is more complicated than just normal english. So, I guess I’ll have to start from the basic. As for the food technology, I’d like to have common class. I think food technology in Indonesia and in England is a bit different, and the vocabulary is more complicated than normal vocabulary that we learned in Indonesia. If you have checked the colleges, just email me the details and the price.
As for the place, I guess staying in dorm is better and cheaper. You see, everthing in England is a bit expensive for me. Let me know if you have a better idea about place to stay.
That’s all, I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,

Merilla

Dear Angela,

Thanks for you email. It’s good to hear from you again after so long.
By the way, since we’re on holiday now, how about seeing “Clash of the Titans”? I heard that it was a very good movie and my friends had their thumbs up for it. I emailed Melinda and Christine yesterday to see if they want to watch it, and it turns out that they wanted to watch it. We agreed to meet up at the cinema in Sutos on Saturday at 11 a.m., we’re going to watch at 11.30 a.m.
After the show, Melinda suggested to eat at Japanese restaurant since you like it very much. At we decided to go to Hachi-hachi, their sushi is delicious.
Let me know if you are free and would like to come, then I’ll come first and buy the tickets. And I hope to see you on Saturday.

Best wishes,
Merilla

I am writing to confirm the details of the holiday you sent me recently. First, I want to change the outgoing flight to 10.25 because I already had a meeting arrangement at that time.
I would like to have inflight meal and I prefer to buy my own tickets when the time is near to prebook it since I am not good with technology these days.
For my hotel, could you change to full board instead of half board? And I would like my room overlooking the garden. Even though it might bne a little noisy, but I like the view more than the pool. It is too quiet and the scene is always the same with some people in it.
I would like to contact your travel again via email to arrange my transfer from airport to hotel.

Yours Sincerely

Merilla

Emma couldn’t believe what she saw in front of her. She had been at this house for a day and never left, yet all the precious things in this house had been stolen. Worried, Emma investigated the house. And there she found her parents lying on the bed, not moving nor breathing. Emma was paralysed. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t leave her parents.
After a long time, finally she made her decision. She would search for the culprit and avenge her parents. And so, she started to search for some clue to find her parents’ murderer and found some paper with a symbol on it.
It turns out that the symbol that she found was the symbol of a mafia group, a big and famous one. Then, she made her resolve. She would go and find them, to avenge her parents.
3 days later, Emma packed his clothes and went on a journey to find her parents’ murderer. Emma knew that after what she had been through, her life would never be the same again.

Bittersweet Memory

Emma couldn’t believe what she saw in front of her. When she opened her front door, Theo, her old Siberian Husky had closed his eyes forever. She could remember, that morning when he asked Emma for some attention, but she was too busy to prepare for her very first presentation, so she ignored him.
Emma was speechless, She couldn’t think for a while, she just kept silent, remembering every single time. The time when he was a puppy, when he was so naughty, and until now when he has gone forever. She smiled bitterly and removed her tears.
She called Tom, her boyfriend to help with theo’s funeral. He huged her to make her strong to face everything. Emma knew that all of God’s creatures to Earth will someday go back to Him. She smiled and kept this bittersweet memory inside her heart forever.

If you have got a few minutes spare why don't you try to make some of these fabulous origami creations....thanks to Blue 11....enjoy

SIMPLE BUT SWEET - ORIGINAL ORIGAMI

How to make a lovely mama whale....-Firstly, fold the paper diagonally in half, making a triangular shape...
-Then, open the paper again and then fold opposite corners to the center, creating a kite -like shape...
-Now, fold the bottom point of the kite underneath so that it touches the top point...
-Following that, fold the right and left points to the center, creating a smaller kite shape...
-Then, fold the top of the kite inwards...
-Following that, fold the top inwards again, creating a straight line...
-Then, fold the whole thing in half, revealing the basic shape of the whale...
-Next, fold the points to make the whale's head shape...
-Finally, lift up the tail and fold it inwards and then pull the bottom half of it down...
-Last but not least, decorate the mama whale!!!!!

SIMPLE BUT SWEET - ORIGINAL ORIGAMI

How to make a lovely gift box…

Firstly fold all four corners to the center , then turn over the paper and repeat this action , so that the square gets even smaller .

Then turn it over again , following that fold the center points to the outer corners .

Once that's done turn it over again and this time fold all four of the corner points out to the middle of each side of the square , then turn the whole thing over again .

Now take one of the four corner points and fold them to the center and back creating triangular waves for decoration and repeat this to all four corners .

Push your index finger into the corner and with the ring finger and thumb of your other hand squeeze the edges together creating height.

Your gift box is now ready to be filled !

Hope you all had a happy holiday...

Hello, i hope everyone had a fun holiday. I spent the first week in Surabaya. It was a ghost city as everyone had left on the mass 'mudik'! Treacle enjoyed having the roads to herself and we went on long city walks. For the second week i went to Ubud, Bali with a few friends. It rained the whole time making the whole area a mix of lush greens. I spent my time there joining yoga classes, eating delicious food and playing scrabble with friends while sat in cosy cafes. You probably think that this sounds like a 'boring' holiday, but for me it was wonderful! Yeah!
...So, until the next holiday it is time to get back to studying...homework forever! enjoy!

Wednesday 29 April 2009

Last sunday some of the fabulous Kelt family went to Taman Bungkul to support the 'Zero Waste' campaign.

We gave away trees and also exchanged plastic bags for Kelt Zero Waste bags. We explained to everyone we met how to use the bags too. I hope you are all using yours too !!!!!

It's not difficult but if we all use them it will make a big difference to our lovely 'Green and Clean' Suroboyo ! So, every time you go shopping just fold up the back and slip it into your pocket. Then, at the supermarket or in a shop just pull it out when you are ready to pay.

Ask the cashier to put your purchases in there instead of in yet another plastic bag. Yes, they may think you are a bit strange but does that really matter- no not at all! If we all make this a habit then we really can claim that we are doing our bit to 'Save the World'.

Say NO to plastic bags- say YES to Zero Waste!!!!
Hello...here is some of my student's work...Pre Intermediate 2 created these wonderful postcards from destinations all over the world- to see them close-up go to the reception area of Kelt, Jawa Street. Also

Very soon I'll be putting up some Orange 5 'Shape People' and some Pre Intermediate 2 'Slightly Strange Stories'- well worth a read, so keep on checking on my blog!

If you have anything that you would like to be shown up here send it to me or give it to me in person.

Good luck to all of you with your mid-tests next week, don't forget to revise everything that has been covered in class and feel free to ask me if there is something that you don't fully understand.

Writing (3)

Ian, here’s my writing exercise about bizarre job.

Fortune Cookie Writer

Some of us may wonder who write those fortunes in English. The answer is Fortune Cookie Writers. And some of you might want to know who they actually are. Are they gurus? Or fortune tellers? The answer is quite simple. They can be anyone.

Fortune cookie writers have been getting more popular recently. Considering that it doesn’t take a lot of energy and it is relax. All you need to have is the ability to predict something, even if some it doesn’t come true.
Now fortune cookie writes provide the readers with thoughts, challenges, inspiration, and even humor. They get paid quite a lot of money for that. So, would anyone like to be a fortune cookie writer?

Ian made us write this assignment..

My horrible first trip

We felt really excited as the ship sailed towards the harbor. You can’t imagine how happy I had been when my strict daddy had permitted me to go with my best friends for 1 day. This was the first time I had been allowed to go out without any member of my family.

As the ship stopped, my heart started to race. Happiness, nervousness, curiousness were all mixed into one. Without wasting anymore time, we went to our destination, a really famous theme park. When we got there, I was surprised. I hadn’t expected that the theme park was extremely crowded. I couldn’t see anything else other than a horde of humans.

Time went by very fast and when I realized, I had gotten in the ship that took us back to our city. I felt really miserable. All we had done at the theme park was just wait and wait. We hadn’t played anything and I felt sick because of the crowd. I had thought that the trip would be a pleasant one, it, however, just turned into a nightmare.

Ian, this is our writing FCE exercise for Part 1

Dear Jenny,

Hi Jen! How are you? Sorry for not writing back sooner. I’ve got a lot of work these days.

By the way, I saw an advertisement in the paper about 3 days holiday in Dublin. It already interests me because of the cheap price and the good facilities. Imagine, 3 days in Dublin which only costs £139 for a 3-star hotel, free hire car and amazing night life in Dublin? WOW, isn’t it?! Even though it doesn’t include the plane and the breakfast, we can have breakfast near the hotel. I heard there are a lot of restaurants there. And about the plane, we’d better take a plane on Tuesday or Thursday, because they’ll cost more on Friday and Sunday.

I’ve already asked Caitlin and Lyla, and they both agreed to come and have a holiday together. I hope you can also join us since we haven’t met each other for so long.

Give me your answer soon, okay?

Best Wishes,
Bella

We were forced to put this here by Ian to make his blog look impressive.

End of My Journey

Hi, Ian! This is my writing homework you gave me:

--------------------------------------------------

Alice knew it was going to be a very special day for her. She didn't know exactly why, but she had the feeling. The feeling it would be the last day of her journey. She began to reminise about the start of her journey.

Back then when she had been a little kid, she had dreamed of seeing the entire world. In order to realize her dream, she had begun her journey. It hadn't been easy, she had had to leave her beloved homeland behind.

Just after saying farewell to her homeland, she had met an old woman. The woman had smiled to Alice and had given her some words of advice, "Young girl you lose something important to you. But don't worry, as long as you're willing to regain it, no matter what it takes, you will find it again". Alice had looked on confusion as the woman had been walking away.

Many years has passed. Alice had gone through the entire world, from hottest desert to he highest mountain. Alice had decided to return to her homeland. However, when she had arrived there hadn't been anything but a barren desert. She had been shocked. Her family and her homeland had disappeared. Sadness stroked her heart.

But, just as hope almost disappeared, she had remembered the words of the old lady. And so, she had looked around to find a way. She then had found a gate nearby. As unbelievable as it seems, it had been a gate of time. It had been told that anyone who stepped through it would be cursed, but Alice's will had been stronger than her fears. She, without any hesitation, had gone through the gate.

Finally, after much time travels, Alice had this feeling. The feeling of the end of her great journey through time. She went for her last journey.

The first thing she saw was a young girl. She looked at her and was instantly reminded. That girl, indeed was Alice herself in her youth. More spesifically, Alice when she was starting her journey. She knew in an instant that her homeland must be nearby.

She then said the same words as the old lady she had met long ago. And finally, she went on to her destination, her beloved homeland.

---------------------------------------------------END----------------------------------------

So, what do you think? Well, it's a little bit too long, but it's good, right?=)
